Making  "Who Killed the King?" for Novo Nordisk

At Solve A Mystery, we create experiences that bring historical events and storytelling to life. Our collaboration with Novo Nordisk is one of the best examples of how to turn a company's unique setting and history into an unforgettable mystery hunt.

For Novo Nordisk, we developed "Who Killed the King?", a custom-made true crime mystery centered on the death of Danish King Christian V. 

Creating a unique experience

Novo Nordisk wanted to make the most of its Favrholm Campus's location near the UNESCO-listed Par Force hunting landscape. This site is steeped in history, including the story of King Christian V, who was fatally injured during a hunt in 1698. The goal was to create a unique mystery of royal history with modern engagement, offering an interactive way for employees to learn and explore together.

This mystery is also a good team-building activity that encourages collaboration, logical thinking, and problem-solving. Participants bonded as they pieced together clues and solved puzzles, making it an engaging way to strengthen teamwork and communication skills.

Imagine stepping into the whispers of history, where shadows of the past guide your every move. We brought this vision to life for Novo Nordisk by crafting "Who Killed the King?"—a mystery rooted in the true story of King Christian V's fate.


Participants were taken back to 1698, where they stepped into the role of detectives, unraveling the thrilling events surrounding the king's fatal injury. The story blended historical accuracy with gamified storytelling. From the grandeur of royal hunts to the intrigue of court secrets, every detail drew participants more profoundly into the mystery.

The adventure wasn't just a mental puzzle but a journey through the breathtaking Par Force hunting landscape. This UNESCO World Heritage site became the backdrop and a character in the story, connecting participants to the exact locations where history unfolded.
